ABOUT US

KENDRIYA VIDYA SAMSTHE (KVS)

KVS operates as an independent entity, as do all educational boards and universities, each possessing discretionary powers. These powers grant educational organizations, including boards, universities, state governments, and the central government of India, the authority to make decisions regarding admissions and services. While every institution has the freedom to either permit or deny admission or service, KVS is committed to ensuring the success of its non-formal education programs. All educational programs administered by the board are autonomous and adhere strictly to the constitution of India and the laws of the land, particularly under articles 19(1)G, 29, and 30.

A thorough examination of the prevailing education system in India reveals a significant dropout rate at the secondary level. Out of the 220 million children attending school in India, only approximately 12% manage to reach university. A considerable portion of the 18-24 age group in India faces challenges in accessing college education. In comparison to countries with similar income levels, India performs well in primary education but experiences a comparative deficit in secondary education. Utilizing Public-Private Partnership, the government can establish infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of students at the secondary and senior secondary levels.

KVS has been established with the objective of providing highly flexible education at the Secondary/Senior Secondary Education level to underprivileged children from all segments of society. This is achieved through the delivery of quality education via both Regular and Open/Distance Learning Systems, addressing the educational needs of over-aged dropouts and contributing to the acceleration of progress in secondary education.
